Steel and polypropylene fibers are used more and more in RMC applications.
Are you aware of the advantages of using fibers in concrete? Some of them are:
- High resistance to mechanical stress & oxidation
- Much less cracking
- More economical solution than building grid
- Improved RMC pumpability

Some applications of adding metal / plastic fibers to concrete are the following:
- Industrial floors
- Access ramps
- Traffic areas for heavy vehicles and objects
- Water tanks
- Piers
- Retaining walls
- Constructions in particularly corrosive environments
The dosage of fibers in normal concrete mix designs is approximately 8-10 kgr/m3 for steel and 1-2 kgr/m3 for polypropylene fibers, depending on the requirements of each application.
The fibers are dosed using the subtractive weighing method and are usually driven onto the aggregate conveyor belt or skip, from which they are headed towards the mixer.
