Dry Bulk Storage Silos

PROTEM in cooperation with the Italian manufacturer SCUTTI designs and delivers ready-to-use storage solutions for cement and many other dry bulk materials.

There are different types of silo available, with a capacity ranging from 20m³ to 2.500m³. Mainly used are the paneled silos which are assembled with screws on site while telescopic and monolithic silos are also available.

Depending on their type of construction, they are suitable either for road transportation by lorries or shipping in containers. Galvanized finish is available on demand.

PROTEM can also offer solutions for big storage of dry powders, the so-called Terminals.

AVAILABLE CAPACITIES FOR EACH TYPE OF SILO

Monolithic silos with a diameter of Ø 2.4 m and a capacity of 23 m³ to 85 m³ or 30 t to 120 t. They are transported by road with ordinary trucks.
Telescopic silos with a diameter of Ø 2,4 m and a capacity of 29 m³ to 68 m³ or 40 t to 95 t.
They are designed and manufactured in two pieces, so one barrel fits into the other. This clever method makes transporting easier by saving space. They can be transported with common trucks, and erecting them is also faster.
Modular paneled silos with the following diameters:
- Ø 3,5m with a capacity of 50 to 110 m³, which equals 70 to 150 t.
- Ø 5,0m with a capacity of 140 to 125 m³, which equals 200 to 350 t.
- Ø 6,2m with a capacity of 215 to 400 m³, which equals 300 to 560 t.
- Ø 7,6m with a capacity of 350 to 630 m³, which equals 490 to 880 t.
- Ø 9,5m with a capacity of 600 to 1.000 m³, which equals 840 to 2.030 t.
- Ø 12,4m with a capacity of 1.800 to 2.600 m³, which equals 2.520 to 3.640 t.

* The volume (m³) refers to the total air volume that fits inside each silo
* The weigh (t) is calculated for bulk cement with a density of 1,4 tons/m³

ACCESSORIES

Following accessories are available for all silo:

Access ladders with or without intermediate rest platforms
Safety rails on the roof
Connection gangways between silos
Double discharge cones
Outflow butterfly valves (manually or pneumatic operation)
Fluidization system for the outflowed materials
Unloading screw conveyors
Vertical screw conveyors for feeding the silo with cement from the sacks or Big Bags
Pressure relief Valves
Dedusting filters
Minimum and maximum level indicators
Filters management and loading automations
Weighing systems

QUICK COMPARISON OF THE 3 SILO TYPES

Monolithic silos have lower purchase costs but higher transport costs because they are transported only by road on a trailer. Their maximum capacity is limited to 100-120 t.
Paneled silos are more expensive than monolithic and require assembly. But they have the advantage of easier transportation and smaller storage space. In order to understand this, it is worth mentioning that two 70m³ (100t ) silos fit together along with all their accessories (railings, ladders, pipes, etc.) into a 40” O.T container or one truck trailer with a length of 13.6 m. Therefore, in many cases, especially when sea transportation is needed, paneled silos are a better option than monolithic.
The telescopic silo have the advantage of being easily and quickly transportable from site to site, but are more expensive than the other 2 types and have limited capacity.
